Awesome Caucus Volunteers
Thousands Caucus Across Nevada!
More than 12,000 people gathered in school gyms and other public places last Saturday, energized and organized to re-elect President Obama and Democrats all the way down the ticket in 2012.
Attendance was great in Washoe County, where hundreds of people signed up as delegates to the county convention!
It is going to be an exciting year as we rally to elect Shelley Berkley to the U.S. Senate, re-elect our Democratic incumbents to the state legislature, and elect more Democrats to our local councils, boards, and commissions.
A Note from NSDP
To all of our amazing volunteers:
Congratulations on a wonderfully executed and well attended caucus!! We want to extend our sincerest gratitude to all those who helped organize and run our caucuses this weekend.
This is a phenomenal first step in engaging and organizing our base and your unwavering support and hard work helps ensure up and down ticket wins for Democrats in Washoe County and across Nevada. Our volunteers are our lifeblood and the primary reason the Washoe Dems will always be a force to be reckoned with.
So whether you willingly volunteered or were coerced into doing so, know that your hard work and dedication is never overlooked and we are thankful for each and every one of you.

Step Two in the Presidential Nominating Process...
The County Convention
Whether you signed up as a delegate to the County Convention, or would just like to attend as a guest, please mark your calendars now for April 14, 2012. That's the date of the Washoe County Democratic Party Convention - step 2 in the Nevada process for choosing our presidential nominee. The exact time and location will be announced soon. It's going to be an energetic convention attended by hundreds of delegates!
At the convention, we will elect delegates to the state convention in June in Las Vegas, we will elect the members of the Washoe County Central Committee for the next two years, and we will adopt the Democratic Party of Washoe County Platform.
Guests are welcome to attend the convention, however only delegates elected at the caucus will be able to cast votes. Remember, if you want to attend the national convention in Charlotte, NC, in September, you must have attended your caucus and also attend both the county and state conventions.
Watch your newsletter and www.washoedems.org for more information.
We need volunteers to help with all sorts of different tasks, so please let us know if you can help by responding to this email. Thanks!

The Power of the Latino Vote
Join us Feb. 7
You will not want to miss this critically important discussion at the February 7th meeting of the Democratic Party of Washoe County.
Andres Ramirez, Vice-Chair of the National Democratic Hispanic Caucus, will be our speaker, along with Nevada State Democratic Party Chair, Roberta Lange.
Andres has a long history of Democratic Party activism. In the 2008 Presidential election cycle, Andres was the Caucus Outreach Director for the Nevada State Democratic Party where he was responsible for creating a plan for engaging and mobilizing Latinos in the Caucus.
Currently, Andres serves as the Senior Vice President of NDN, a leading think tank and advocacy organization, where he is tasked with overseeing all of NDN's programmatic activities concerning Hispanics, including advocacy of comprehensive immigration reform, Latin America policies, Demographics and Research, and Hispanic Electoral participation.
Andres will talk about what we have to do in Northern Nevada to get out the Latino vote - for Democrats! Because we all share the same concerns about jobs, affordable healthcare, and education.
We're very pleased that Roberta will join us also to share the latest statewide news about the important 2012 races.
Please invite your friends of all colors to join us for this important discussion.

Volunteers Needed for Reno Boards and Committees
Serving on a municipal or county citizen board or committee is a great way to learn about how local government works...and is great training ground for future candidates for office!
The City of Reno is currently looking for individuals to serve on a number of neighborhood advisory boards and on their Charter Review Committee. It is so important that we have a diversity of opinions, and plenty of Democrats, on these local bodies. You can call the City Clerk's office at 334-2030 or go to www.reno.gov.
