Across this nation, we see what happens when democracy is eroded, when the rule of law is bent to serve the whims of one man. And now, Donald Trump’s authoritarian ambitions are aimed squarely at our state — using Nevada (and California) as a testing ground for undermining freedom and silencing dissent.

We refuse to stand by.

This Saturday, Washoe County Democrats, labor unions, immigrant rights advocates, students, progressives, and ordinary citizens will gather at the Reno District Office of Congressman Mark Amodei to send a clear and unified message:

“We will not be ruled. We will not be silenced. We will not surrender our democracy.”

The “No Kings Rally” is not just another protest — it is a line in the sand. Together, we will:

• Reject the politics of fear and division.
• Defend our right to free and fair elections.
• Protect the rights of workers, immigrants, LGBTQ+ Nevadans, and all vulnerable communities.
• Stand in solidarity with those fighting authoritarianism across the country.

This is your moment to show up and be counted.

In the words of an activist who spoke at this year’s May Day Rally:
“They can’t break us if we stand together. And we will stand together.”
