Democrat Candidates 2020 Primary

Partisan races: To vote for a Democrat in the primary election you must be a registered Democratic voter. If 2 or more Democratic candidates are running, the Democratic candidate with the most votes in the June 9, 2020 primary election will face the Republican candidate in the November 3, 2020 general election.
Nonpartisan races: Any registered voter may vote in the primary election and the candidate’s party affiliation will not be specified. Where there are only 2 candidates the contest will not appear on the primary ballot and both candidates will appear on the general election ballot. Where there are 3 or more candidates the contest will appear on the primary ballot and the top 2 candidates who receive the most votes will go forward to the general election ballot. In Sparks City council, School Board Trustee and all judgeships if one candidate receives the majority of votes in the primary election, then that candidate’s name will be the only one to appear on the general election ballot. In Reno City council there is no majority winner at the primary per the city charter.
The Democratic Party of Washoe County does not make an endorsement in any race where more than one Democrat is running. We invite all Democratic candidates to provide information for the listing below; however it is at the candidate’s discretion whether or not to participate.
